The AITANA research group of the Miguel Hernández University has initiated a new development cooperation project in southern Ecuador, focused on the promotion of adolescent affective-sexual health, entitled “Teenage Pregnancy, a Neglected Problem in Ecuador”. This project will adapt the COMPAS Program (Competencies for Adolescents with a Healthy Sexuality), validated in Spain and Colombia, to the Ecuadorian context. The project is directed by Alexandra Morales and carried out in collaboration with the Tierra Nueva Foundation of Quito, with funding from the UMH and the Generalitat Valenciana. This initiative will train adolescents and professionals to reduce risk behaviors and promote healthy practices. It will also offer mental health services and assistance in local centers for young people between 12 and 21 years of age with low resources, aligning with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and supporting the most vulnerable communities in southern Ecuador.
