A case study published by Álvaro Ruiz, Yolanda Quiles, María José Quiles, Eva María León, María Roncero, María Marco and Maider Crujeiras has evaluated the effectiveness of the ECHOMANTRA program in helping the transition of patients with eating disorders from hospital admission to daily life. The case study focuses on a 15-year-old teenage girl with anorexia nervosa and her mother. It showed very promising results in reducing the symptoms of anorexia, increasing body mass index, improving emotional state and motivation for change. The intervention also improved the mother’s emotional state, her skills as a caregiver, and decreased her accommodation to the illness.
The results are relevant, since the transition from hospital admission to daily life is a critical moment in the treatment of eating disorders, and early intervention and support for patients and their families may be essential to improve treatment outcomes. .
